Congregational Care
Congregational
Care
Congregational Care at Trinity is provided by the Pastoral
Care Coordinator, the Deacons, and others who assist the pastor by
bringing the physical, spiritual, and emotional healing of Christ to
persons in need. Below is a list of the services currently in place,
whether individuals and families are celebrating a joy or going through
trying times. We invite any member who desires to help with this ministry
to please contact Dee Lindblom at 651-738-0045 or dee@trinitywoodbury.org.
Home
and hospital visits are
provided for members who are homebound, who are going through a difficult
time due to illness or the death of a loved one, or who are hospitalized.
Deacons
- The Board of Deacons is responsible for providing lay pastoral
care at Trinity. Their job description in the Book of Order is “one of
sympathy, witness, and service after the example of Jesus Christ. It is
the duty of deacons, first of all, to minister to those who are in need,
to the sick, to the friendless, and to any who may be in distress.”
Funeral
Committee - For our bereaved church members, there is a team of
volunteers who will serve a luncheon or reception in the fellowship hall
following a funeral service.
Mental
Health Group - The Mental Health Group is an educational
ministry and a ministry to and with people and families affected by brain
disorders (mental illness). Trinity recognizes that serious mental illness
exists within its family of faith and that it is a medical condition,
treatable with medication and various therapies; it is not a moral
weakness, character defect, a lack of spirituality and/or a result of poor
parenting. The mission of this group is to encourage education that raises
awareness and compassion, and to support ministry that empowers persons
and families affected by mental illnesses/brain disorders to full
participation in our community.
-
An educational program, generally either a speaker or
a video, is held the 4th Monday of the month, from 6:30 –
8 pm in the Fellowship Hall.
-
Mental Health Month is observed through worship,
prayer and education during October.
-
“Healthy Mind Matters” page of the Pathways
newsletter provides news and information on a variety of mental health
topics.
Healing Service
- A Service of Healing is held during the year for all who are suffering
from physical disease, mental or emotional distress, grief, and
estrangement from loved ones. This service is an opportunity to pray and
to receive God’s comfort and healing.
Prayer
Chain Ministry – Members receive specific requests for which
they set aside time to pray. If you or someone you know is in need of
prayers and support, you may fill out a prayer request form in the pew
racks, or contact Dee Lindblom at 651-738-0045 or dee@trinitywoodbury.org
to be put on the prayer chain.
Prayer
Shawl Ministry - During
the difficult times in our lives, we are strengthened by God and by the
support of each other. Members come together and/or individually knit or
crochet with tender loving prayer comfort shawls and lap blankets to give
to those who are grieving or experiencing pain or illness.
Knitted
Baby Caps are presented to parents on behalf of the church to
celebrate the birth of a child.
