Local
Missions Our mission tradition
leads us to reach out to those in need, in our community and
elsewhere. Trinity participates in several local mission
projects and has been instrumental in organizing three of them.
Some of them are:
Elder
Friends: An ecumenical senior enrichment program providing a weekly
outing for participants and a rest time for their caregivers.
Trinity provides the space and many of the volunteers.
Christian
Cupboard Food shelf: Emergency food shelf program serving South Washington County. Donations are contributed on a bimonthly basis.
The
Family Place: A St. Paul shelter for homeless families. Trinity
provides and serves a meal once a month. Information
for Trinity people that are Family Place servers is here.
Extra
Innings Tutoring: An after school homework help program assisting
students living in nearby Landfall. Administrative help, supplies,
and many tutors are supplied by Trinity.
SPACC:
St. Paul Area Council of Churches, an interfaith organization of
congregations in the St. Paul Area, promoting justice and service
through a variety of outreach programs. Trinity financially supports
this organization.
Project
Home: A program of St. Paul Area Council of Churches providing shelter for
homeless families in Ramsey County. Periodically, Trinity members work at
the shelters.
School
Tools: A program of the St. Paul Area Council of Churches for low-income
children at designated schools in the St. Paul area. Each fall, our
congregation donates new school supplies to this program.
In
addition, we work with and support several local organizations on social
justice issues:
Metropolitan Interfaith Coalition for Affordable Housing (MICAH), Joint
Religious Legislative Coalition (JRLC), and FamilyMeans.
Broader
Missions
Heifer
Project: An ecumenical organization providing livestock for people
in need in the U.S. and the world. The children’s weekly offerings
are dedicated to this project.
Fair
Exchange Coffee: A Presbyterian Church USA project providing a fair
price for small coffee growers. Trinity purchases FE gourmet coffee
for fellowship, and our youth sell it as a fundraiser for their
mission trips.
Bread
for the World: An ecumenical Christian organization lobbying for
federal legislation to improve hunger, health, and education at home
and abroad. Trinity supports this organization financially and
spiritually.
Alternative
Christmas and Third World Craft Sale: An annual event at Trinity
during the Christmas season. Alternative gifts are offered ---
vaccinations, mosquito netting, blankets, etc., from several
benevolent organizations. Proceeds from the craft sales provide fair
income to third world artisans. |
